MUBI, der weltweite Filmverleih und Streamingdienst für kuratierte Filmauswahl, hat die weltweiten Rechte für Coralie Fargeats neuen Film THE SUBSTANCE, eine Produktion von Working Title Films, erworben. Der Film wird bei den bevorstehenden 77. Internationalen Filmfestspielen von Cannes seine Weltpremiere im Wettbewerb feiern. MUBI erhält alle Rechte für Nordamerika, Großbritannien, Irland, Deutschland, Österreich, Lateinamerika und die Benelux-Staaten, wo Kinostarts noch in diesem Jahr geplant sind. The Match Factory übernimmt den internationalen Vertrieb für den Rest der Welt. In den Hauptrollen von THE SUBSTANCE, für den Coralie Fargeat (REVENGE) Regie führte und das Drehbuch schrieb, spielen Demi Moore (DIE AKTE JANE, EINE FRAGE DER EHRE, EIN UNMORALISCHES ANGEBOT), Margaret Qualley (ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, MAID, KINDS OF KINDNESS, POOR THINGS) und Dennis Quaid (DEM HIMMEL SO FERN, DIE ENTSCHEIDUNG, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW). Die Kameraführung lag in den Händen von Benjamin Kracun (PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN, BEAST), den Schnitt übernahmen Coralie Fargeat, Jerome Eltabet (REVENGE) und Valentin Féron. Die Musik wurde von Raffertie (I MAY DESTROY YOU) komponiert, das Szenenbild stammt von Stanislas Reydellet (LE BAL DES FOLLES), und für das Kostümdesign ist Emmanuelle Youchnovski (CAFÉ DE FLORE, LA BELLE ÉPOQUE) verantwortlich. THE SUBSTANCE, produziert von Coralie Fargeat, Eric Fellner und Tim Bevan für Working Title Films, folgt auf Fargeats gefeiertes Debüt REVENGE, das 2017 beim renommierten Toronto International Film Festival uraufgeführt wurde.
