MUBI präsentiert erste Bilder zu Andrew Haighs A LONG WINTER

| MUBI, weltweiter Filmverleih, Produktionsfirma und Streamingdienst präsentiert die ersten Stills zu Andrew Haighs (ALL OF US STRANGERS, 45 YEARS) mit Spannung erwartetem neuen Spielfilm A LONG WINTER, mit Fred Hechinger (THELMA, GLADIATOR II), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (THE BEAR: KING OF THE KITCHEN, DIE FANTASTISCHEN VIER: FIRST STEPS), Caitríona Balfe (BELFAST, LE MANS 66 – GEGEN JEDE CHANCE, OUTLANDER), Kit Connor (HEARTSTOPPER, WARFARE, ROCKETMAN) und D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (WARFARE, RESERVATION DOGS) in den Hauptrollen. A LONG WINTER wird im Herbst beim New York Film Festival seine New Yorker Premiere und beim Toronto International Film Festival die kanadische Premiere feiern. Der Film spielt in den Bergen, wo sich eine Familie auf den bevorstehenden langen Winter vorbereitet. Andrew Haighs Leinwandadaption basiert auf Colm Tóibíns gefeierter gleichnamiger Kurzgeschichte. In weiteren Rollen sind Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, David Furr und Martin Freeman zu sehen. A LONG WINTER wurde in Alberta, Kanada, gedreht. Zum Kreativteam gehörten der Kameramann André Turpin (MOMMY, DIE FRAU, DIE SINGT – INCENDIES), der Produktionsdesigner Emmanuel Fréchette (WAYWARD, THE NORTH WATER), für den Schnitt war Jonathan Alberts (ALL OF US STRANGERS, 45 YEARS) verantwortlich. Der Film wurde von Tristan Goligher (The Bureau), Chad Oakes und Mike Frislev (Nomadic Pictures) sowie von Michael Elliott produziert. A LONG WINTER wurde von MUBI entwickelt und gemeindam mit Film4 finanziert. Andrew Haigh ist ein mehrfach ausgezeichneter Drehbuchautor und Regisseur, dessen von der Kritik hochgelobter Film ALL OF US STRANGERS (Searchlight Pictures) sechs BAFTA-Nominierungen erhielt, darunter für „Beste Regie“ und „Bestes adaptiertes Drehbuch“. Bei den British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) gewann der Film den Preis für den „Besten Film“ sowie sechs weitere Auszeichnungen bei insgesamt 14 Nominierungen, u.a. in den Kategorien „Beste Regie“ und „Bestes adaptiertes Drehbuch“ für Andrew Haigh sowie für Paul Mescal als bester Nebendarsteller. ALL OF US STRANGERS wurde zudem für vier Gotham Awards und drei Independent Spirit Awards nominiert. Die LA Film Critics Association zeichnete Haigh für den Film mit dem Preis für das „Beste Drehbuch“ aus. Sowohl The Guardian als auch EMPIRE kürten den Film zum „Besten Film des Jahres 2024“. Zu Haighs früheren Spielfilmen zählen LEAN ON PETE (2017, A24) und 45 YEARS (2015, IFC Sundance Select), für den Charlotte Rampling eine Oscar®-Nominierung erhielt. Seinen Durchbruch feierte der Regisseur mit WEEKEND (2011). Im Fernsehen war Haigh als ausführender Produzent sowie als leitender Drehbuchautor und Regisseur der HBO-Serie LOOKING (2014–2016), mit Jonathan Groff und Murray Bartlett in den Hauptrollen, tätig. Außerdem führte er bei allen fünf Folgen der BBC- und AMC-Miniserie THE NORTH WATER (2012) Regie, in der Colin Farrell und Jack O’Connell die Hauptrollen spielten. Zu seinen kommenden Projekten gehört eine Verfilmung von Walter Isaacsons Buch „Leonardo Da Vinci“ für Universal, bei der Haigh sowohl das Drehbuch schreiben als auch die Regie übernehmen wird. Für das Fernsehen wird er außerdem eine Serie über den legendären US-amerikanischen Künstler Keith Haring schreiben und inszenieren, die auf Brad Goochs Biografie „Radiant: The Life and Line of Keith Haring“ basiert und von Working Title produziert wird.
